Think Love! #2

“Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love they neighbour, and hate thine enemy.”  (Matthew 5:43)  KJV

You cannot think negatively about yourself or others and get a positive result or have a positive life.

   “It is natural to love those who love you, but it is supernatural to love those who hate you.”  If you only love those who love you, are you not a hater too (of those who do not love you)?

   This prayer was penned by Alan Paton, a South African writer, author of Cry the Beloved Country, who made a courageous stand against racism.

Help me, O Lord, to be move loving.

Help me O Lord, not to be afraid to love the outcast, the leper, the unmarried pregnant woman, the traitor to the State, the man out of prison.

Help me by my love to restore the faith of the disillusioned, the disappointed, the early bereaved.

Help me by my love to be the witness of your love.

And may I this coming day be able to do some work of peace for you.

Think Love #1

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. (1 John 4:7) KJV

Love is the most powerful attraction force in all of creation, but to love right, you have to think right.

I would like to suggest that so many of the problems that we struggle with cannot really be blamed on others and certainly not the most famous fall guy, the Devil. The fact of the matter is that so many of our so-called circumstances are self-imposed and self-induced. Generally speaking, we just do not think right. Specifically, we do not think right about love. We save love for special occasions and special people while forfeiting the full impact of love as a way of life. If we believe in the law of the harvest or the law of attraction—meaning basically, what we put out is what we get back – then we have to understand the law of love is inextricably tied to the law of attraction.

In other words, if you see yourself as a transmission tower sending out a frequency 24 hours a day, I dare you to let that frequency be love. All you will get in return is more love.

The Secret Exposed part 1

Speaking Spirits

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.  And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.  And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.  And God said, Let there be light:  and there was light.         (Genesis 1:1-3)   KJV

 

God’s spirit speaks through us and when He does, mountains move at His command.

 

I have often said that when you discover your purpose, you discover your power.  Every person on the planet has to discover the “why” of their existence, and then they will quickly see the “what” they are supposed to do.  Would it blow or bless your mind for me to tell you that the Bible teaches us that the purpose of human existence is to express the Spirit of God in a material world?

 

In actuality, and at our best, we are spirits speaking and moving in Him.  God in us/Christ in us is the hope of glory because in Him we move, love, and have our being.  Outside of the Holy Spirit of God, we are nothing.  Apart from Christ we are nothing.  We are a candle without a flame.  Wrong thinking embraces the idea that it is all about you.  Right thinking we realize that it is all about God in you.  When you realize that nothing shall be impossible to you because God in you speaking through you makes all things possible. 

Howard Thurman said:  “When you and God become one, all of life's resources begin to flow toward you.”

You Are The Treasure

   But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.  (2 Corinthians 4:7)  KJ

 

If you only look at us in the flesh, you might miss the miracle—the bright treasure that we hold and carry around in clay (vessels) chests.  It is the way to prevent anyone from confusing the container with the content.  We have this treasure which is God’s power in us.  It makes us indestructible, undefeatable, and unstoppable.

 

We have often said, “when you discover your purpose, you discover your power.”  Yet we know that it is hardly possible to know what you are called to do if you do not know who you are.  Once you know the why and the who, then the what follows obediently.

   

If you see yourself as the vessel or the clay chest only, then you are always subject to the fate of the fragile, broke, busted, and disgusted . You are subject to the delicate nature of your existence.  On the other hand, if you see yourself as God sees us and communicates with us as spiritual treasure, then we become bigger and better than the container.  We become the treasure in the chest defined by the content and not the container.

    I am not just a vessel, container, or a chest. I am a treasure in a chest. I am a walking, talking treasure.  I am a speaking spirit in a clay jar and you can't touch this. I am the treaure. You are the treasure...now run, tell that.

A Message From The Trees

Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt:  for the tree is known by his fruit.  (Matthew 12:33)  KJ

     The trees would have me tell you to go deep.  Do not live your life on the surface but go deep.  Understand that who you are is not on the surface; it is deep in the recesses of your mind.  The kind of thinking you put forth is what basically will develop what kind of fruit that will come forth in your life.  Do not discount the power of the mind!  “As a man thinketh, so is he…”

     Anybody that knows anything about trees understands that the taller the tree, the deeper the root.  The trees want me to tell you that it is your mind and heart that produces your character, your conduct, and controls your circumstances on whether or not you can withstand the storms of life.  There are instant storms that we do not anticipate, and you have to have a strong root system!  Sometimes you will see the top of that tree move in the wind, but somehow because of the root system, it stands!

It is not what you look like; it’s what you think like.

It is not what you drive; it is what drives you.

It is not where you live, it is how you live.

You cannot control the weather, but you can control your mind.

You cannot control the contour of your face, but you can control the expression on your face.

The root determines the fruit.  You cannot have a positive life and a negative mind.

It All Begins With A Thought

What we think determines what we believe and what we believe determines who we are and what we can have.  You are what you think before you are what you believe or do.

     Everything…I mean every thing begins first with a thought whether it is Bill Gates’ Microsoft, John Johnson’s Ebony/Jet empire, Oprah’s Harpo Productions, Steven Spielberg’s Dreamworks, Jordin Sparks’ winning appearance on American Idol, LeBron James’ ability to play basketball, T.D. Jakes’ ability to communicate, Light of the World Christian Church, the City On A Hill, the Senior Living Centers, the Family Life Center, the Sanctuary all started with a thought.  Every marriage, ministry, book, play, movie, sermon, business, building, and even baby begins with a thought. 

     My proposition is that our thinking is the critical factor (even before faith) that God uses to give us both our identity and our dominion.  If you think right, you live right, give right, love right, get right, do right.  If you think wrong, you live wrong, give wrong, love wrong, get wrong, and do wrong.

There is no more powerful truth than this from the throne of God:  “As a man (or woman) thinketh in his (her) heart, so is he …”   Get it and you’ve got it; miss it and nothing else matters.

Happy People

1 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?

4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.

5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.  (Psalm 42:1-5 KJV)

This 42nd Psalm of David is so powerful because it is so personal and so painful.  It is both a confession and a cry for help.  The psalmist is giving an agonizing account of his pain predicament, and the unhappiness of his soul.

There are usually many causes for unhappiness in the life of even those who believe in God.  This Psalm keeps it real because it reminds us to keep it real.  Even Christians get down sometime.  B. B. King is not the only one who sings the blues.  The Psalmist had been teased and taunted by his enemies and possibly discouraged by his friends.  We get down on ourselves and even worse, we spread it and get down on each other and down on those we say we love the most.  And yet by definition, we are called and chosen to be “happy people.”

The Psalmist came to the conclusion that when you have a case of the blues or you are down in the dumps, the only way out is to praise your way out.  When you do not know what to do, praise your way through.  It will not change until we change our attitude.  It is not what happens to us that counts, it is how we respond to it.  We worry about things that never happen and about people who do not matter.

The Psalmist tasted tears for breakfast, lunch, and dinner because of the verbal abuse of his enemies and the discouragement of his friends.  His frustration was compounded by his hunger and thirst for God.  He who had been a worshipper was wiped out.  His tears were his “meat day and night.”  He was undone and unhappy.  Yet he knew that was not his place.  He knew that deep down inside he was different than his dilemma.  He knew that he was destined for delight, not depression, and so “as deer panteth after the cold stream,” so his soul sought to praise God and his thirst could only be quenched by pouring out praise upon the Joy Giver. 

When the praises go up, the blessing of happiness comes down.  Frankie Beverly used to sing about “Happy People.”  I am not sure who he was talking about, but Christians ought to be the happy people because you are one of the happy people.

Christian and unhappy do not go together.  It is the classic oxymoron, and yet many are miserable.  Spiritual depression has to be addressed because something is wrong when we who are called to be happy are actually unhappy and worse, we show it. 

The good news is that in spite of it all, we are a happy people, and our happiness is not based on “happy hour.”  It is based on a “happy power” that we received the moment we first believed in Jesus as Lord.  Each one of us who belongs to Jesus are happy people underneath but our challenge is to bring it to the surface.  My grandmother used to say, “if you have joy on the inside, why keep it a secret from your face.”  Remember, no matter what the problem, you can always praise your way out.
